Good news: you don't need any muscle for this. The Bedbinder does the work, because the three straps pull both mattresses toward each other, from underneath. So all you do is close three buckles.

How to install a bed bridge, step by step
After these three steps your mattresses are tied together, and you can stop thinking about them. You don't need tools, just 60 seconds.
Mattresses together, Bedbinder across
Push the two mattresses as close together as you can. Then lay the Bedbinder across the middle of the bed: straps on one side, buckles on the other.
Straps underneath
Lift the side of one mattress a little and pull the straps under it. Do the same with the other mattress, and bring the straps over to the buckle side.
Buckle up and tuck under
Thread the straps through the buckles and pull them snug, not too tight: once the mattresses can't move that last half inch apart, it's right. Then grab the Bedbinder with both hands and pull the buckles under the mattress.

The straps go under the mattresses, so the base stays as it is. Just push the two mattresses tight together first.

In a bed frame with wooden sides
Lift each mattress a little at the side rail, and the straps slide underneath easily. Then you buckle up on the underside, just like on any other bed.
With a topper on top
Does your topper have a good non-slip base? Then buckle the Bedbinder around the mattresses and lay the topper on top. But if the topper slides too, put it on first and buckle the Bedbinder around mattresses and topper together.
Done? Then make the bed with one mattress pad and one fitted sheet over both mattresses.

Yes. The band opens on both sides, hook-and-loop on one side and buckles on the other, so you can take it off without threading the straps under the mattresses again. Machine wash it at 30 °C (86 °F), two or three times a year.
The first prototype wasn't pretty
It started at home, at my mother's sewing machine. I had two tie-down straps from the hardware store and an old mattress cover. But that cover was too stretchy, so it twisted into a kind of rope. On the second try I used a cotton duvet cover, and that worked. “It didn't look pretty yet. But it worked, and at that moment that was all that mattered.” That's why today's Bedbinder doesn't stretch, and closes with three buckles.
