You don't need tools to install a bed bridge
Three steps, about 60 seconds, no tools. Watch the video, or follow the same steps in photos below.
How do you install a bed bridge?
Installing the Bedbinder Deluxe takes about 60 seconds, no tools:
- Lay it flat over the spot where your two mattresses meet.
- Pull the straps under both mattresses.
- Click the buckles shut and pull tight. Put your fitted sheet back on.
That is the whole job. The Bedbinder then holds both mattresses as one bed, invisible under the sheets.
What do you need before you start?
Two mattresses pushed against each other, the Bedbinder Deluxe, and a fitted sheet sized for both combined. No tools, no tape, no extra parts.

Where exactly does it go on the bed?
The three steps are simple. Where you lay the band is the part people get wrong, and it is the difference between it holding and it wandering.
Across the middle, not near the head
Lay it across the seam at roughly the middle of the bed, where the most weight lands. Too close to the head end and it does nothing at the foot; too close to the foot and it does nothing where you actually lie.
Under both mattresses, not around the edges
The straps run underneath both mattresses and meet at the buckles below. Products that wrap around the outside edge of the bed catch on adjustable frames and pull off when one side lifts. One customer came to us for exactly that reason after the edge-wrapping type failed.
Around the frame as well, if the beds are separate
On two separate beds rather than one split base, several customers run the band around the bed frame too. It takes a minute longer and it stops the frames travelling as well as the mattresses.
Snug, then stop
Pull until the mattresses can no longer drift that last centimetre, then leave it. They do not need to be compressed against each other, and over-tightening bows the inner edges upward into the ridge you were trying to remove.
The same 3 steps, in photos
For everyone who would rather scan than watch.
1
Lay it over the middle
Place the Bedbinder flat over the spot where your two mattresses meet, centered so it covers both edges evenly.
2
Pull the straps underneath
Pull the straps under both mattresses so they wrap all the way around each one.
3
Click the buckles shut
Click the buckles together, pull tight until both mattresses sit firmly against each other, and put the sheet back on.
What makes the install go smoothly?
Four things customers mention after their first install.
- Tighten until the drift stops, then stop. The mattresses need to sit firmly together, not compressed. Overtightening can dig into the mattress edge over time.
- Use the right sheet size. A fitted sheet that is too small pops loose overnight. Measure both mattresses combined first.
- Do it with two if you can. One person can manage, but lifting the mattress edges goes quicker with a second pair of hands.
- Check the buckles once a month. Loosened a little? Pull them tight again. Takes about ten seconds.
What happens after the first night?
The install takes 60 seconds. These are the things people ask in the week that follows.
Check it once, after a few nights
Mattress covers compress slightly under weight, so a band that felt snug on the first evening can have a little slack by the third. One adjustment is usually the last one you make.
Making the bed does not touch it
The band runs underneath, so stripping and remaking the bed leaves it where it is. Changing a mattress protector is the only routine job where you notice it is there.
Taking it off again
Faster than putting it on: unclip the three buckles and pull the band out. Nothing is glued or screwed, which is what makes this workable in a room that has to be two beds again next month.
Washing
Breathable polyester, washable at 30 degrees. Two or three times a year is plenty for something that lives under the sheet, and it is one of the few things in this category that can be washed at all.
Did the install go as easily for others?
What customers say about putting the Bedbinder on their own bed.
So easy to install.
“This is so easy to install and it keeps the mattresses from separating! I wish I had found this sooner!”
You can't feel that it's there.
“I was hesitant to buy but I am glad I did. It works so well and you can't feel that it's there. No more falling in the crack.”
Holding up very well.
“Easy to install and is holding up very well!”
Frequently asked questions about installation
Honest answers, including the part that takes a little effort.
How long does it take to install a bed bridge?
About 60 seconds, even the first time. Lay the Bedbinder over the middle, pull the straps under both mattresses, and click the buckles shut. No tools needed.
Do I need any tools to install it?
No. The Bedbinder Deluxe installs entirely by hand. No screwdriver, no drill, nothing to assemble.
Can I install it alone, or do I need help?
Most people manage alone. Lifting the mattress edges to pull the straps through is the only heavy part, so a second pair of hands makes it quicker. One customer put it honestly: a bit of a wrestle, then it works perfectly.
Will I feel the bed bridge once it is installed?
With a mattress pad or fitted sheet over it, customers describe it as invisible and unfeelable. Without any layer on top you may feel the strap slightly. That is honest to know before you start.
What if the straps feel loose after a few weeks?
Lift the fitted sheet once a month and check the buckles. If they have loosened, pull them tight again. It takes about ten seconds and the Bedbinder stays in place for months at a time.
Can the buckles break when I pull them tight?
The buckles are renewed and reinforced nylon, strong up to 550 kg, and carry a 7-year warranty. If one ever breaks, you get a new Bedbinder.
Does the installation work on an adjustable bed?
Yes, as long as only the head end adjusts. If both the head and foot ends move, the Bedbinder Deluxe is not the right fit. We would rather tell you that up front.
