What is a mattress connector?
A wide band that runs under two mattresses and pulls them against each other, so the two behave as one sleeping surface.
Two separate twin beds are a slightly harder case, because the frames move as well as the mattresses. That one has its own page: twin bed connectors.
- It joins the mattresses. It does not fill the space between them, which is why the gap cannot open again.
- It sits under the mattresses, so nothing shows and nothing sits between you.

Four things separate one connector from another
They all look similar in a listing photo. These are the differences you notice after a month.
1. How wide the band is
A wide band spreads the pull across a broad section of mattress. A narrow strap concentrates it into one line, which is what makes cheap connectors dig in and leave a ridge you can feel through the sheet. The Bedbinder is 80 cm across.
2. Where the buckles sit
Some connectors close at the side of the bed. That is the design that fails on an adjustable base: the moment one side lifts, the buckle catches and the whole thing pulls off. Buckles that sit underneath stay out of the way. One customer had bought the side-closing type first and came back for this reason.
3. How strong the buckles are

Mattresses of slightly different heights are fine. A large height difference is not, because the band then pulls the lower mattress upward instead of sideways. If you are unsure, the sizing guide goes through it bed by bed.

People search for this product under half a dozen names, and shops are happy to let the confusion stand.
The same thing, different words
- Mattress connector, bed connector, mattress connector strap. The most common names, and the most literal.
- Mattress joiner, bed joiner, mattress joiner strip. Mostly British phrasing for the same band.
- Mattress combiner, bed combiner, bed binder. What customers call it once they own one.
- Horizontal bed bridge. The category name, and the one that says what it does.
The word that means something else
- Wedge, gap filler, foam bridge. These sit in the gap. They do not join anything, so the mattresses keep drifting underneath them. If a listing calls itself a connector and shows a foam triangle, it is a wedge.

Does it work on an adjustable bed?
On beds where only the head end raises, yes, and the head ends still move independently. If the head and the foot of each side both move, the 80 cm is not the right fit. A narrower 60 cm version is made for that, but it is not in our own shop, so contact us and we will point you the right way.
Will I feel the connector under the sheets?
With a mattress pad or a fitted sheet over the top, customers describe it as something they do not notice. A king size fitted sheet over both mattresses is the setup that works best, and it is also what prevents the fabric bunching in the middle.
