First, make sure your mattresses are the right size. Here is how twins compare to a king:

• Standard twin: 38 x 75 inches (97 x 191 cm). Two together = 76 x 75 inches. Same width as a king, but 5 inches shorter.
• Twin XL: 38 x 80 inches (97 x 203 cm). Two together = 76 x 80 inches. This is an exact king size match.

Two twin XL mattresses are the perfect match. Two standard twins work too, but the bed will be 5 inches shorter than a regular king. For most people, that small difference is not noticeable.

Place both bed frames side by side. Push them tightly together so there is no space between the frames. If the frames have wheels or casters, lock them in place or remove them.

If the bed frames have side rails or edges that stick up, they might prevent the mattresses from sitting flush against each other. In that case, you can use a king-size bed frame instead, or simply place both mattresses on the floor.
