Foam wedge (gap filler)
A foam wedge is a strip of foam you push into the gap. It fills the gap visually, but creates a bump you can feel. The foam compresses after a few weeks and sinks. It does not stop the mattresses from sliding apart. Verdict: temporary fix, not a real solution. Read our full Bedbinder vs foam wedge comparison.
King-size fitted sheet
Putting one large sheet over both mattresses can hold them together somewhat. But a sheet is not strong enough. The mattresses still drift, and the sheet bunches in the gap. By morning, you are back to the same problem.
Topper over both mattresses
A topper covers the gap and creates one surface. But toppers are heavy, expensive, and slide around. You also lose the individual firmness of each mattress. And the mattresses underneath still drift apart.
Strapping the bed frames
Ratchet straps or bungee cords can hold bed frames together. But the mattresses still shift on top of the frames. It looks messy and can scratch the wood. Not ideal.
A horizontal bed bridge (the best solution)
A horizontal bed bridge connects the mattresses physically. It wraps around or under both mattresses and pulls them together. The gap cannot form. The mattresses cannot slide. It is invisible under the sheets. This is the only solution that fixes the cause, not just the symptom.
